Indoor Air Emergency Response
Leigh Environmental responded to an emergency call at a petroleum service station. Locals and employees started complaining of petroleum vapors within the building that was causing physical irritations and affecting customer experience. Additionally, petroleum vapors were present within the public sewer system which is an explosivity risk. LEL was able to quickly find the source within the petroleum line trench, install shallow pumping wells, and drain the line trench. This immediately alleviated the petroleum vapors within the store building and the business was able to reopen within a day. LEL began to investigate the public sewer system and after research was able to identify an abandoned sewer line on the property. LEL excavated the abandoned sewer line, recovered the petroleum within the sewer line, capped the sewer line, and disposed of the impacted soil. The vapors within the public sewer system quickly dissipated. LEL addressed the immediate risk within a timely manner.
