LEL was contracted to conduct eighteen Phase I EAs across southern Missouri and eastern Kansas with a two week turn-around. The grocery chain properties were located in cities and towns including Webb City, Springfield, Aurora, Cassville, Seymour, Marshfield, Houston, Owensville, West Plains, New Madrid, and Pittsburg, Kansas. Environmental issues identified included petroleum underground storage tanks (USTs), leaking electrical transformers with no PCB testing records, and asbestos containing materials (ACM).
Out of the eighteen Phase I EA’s, six of the properties required Phase II Subsurface Assessments. Petroleum contamination was discovered at two of the six properties.
